Divine

Peepshow Inc presents a public showing of:

Divine

PART ONE

Abbotsford Convent
7-8 SEP 2011

“I’ve heard it said that you die three times. Once when your heart stops, again when your body is buried, and then the last time someone says your name.”

Marjorie cleans dead people’s houses. The unopened mail on the kitchen table is addressed to Delia Vine, her latest ‘client’. Faced with the flotsam and jetsam remnants of Delia’s life, Marjorie starts to question her ideas about death and the meaning of a single human life…

Peepshow Inc brings a new site-specific performance to the Abbotsford Convent 7-8 September. From the team that brought you THE LOST STORY OF THE MAGDALEN ASYLUM (Nominated for Green Room Award 2010 Best Site-specific Performance), DIVINE continues Peepshow Inc’s distinctive style of image-based theatre and immersive performance experiences. Exploring the development of new work through ‘outcome as process’, the first stage of this live experiment takes place in the former industrial laundries at the Abbotsford Convent, which have not been open to the public before.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Melinda Hetzel and working with Writer Kylie Trounsen, Divine (Part One) is a unique fusion of personal history, memory and imagination, brought to life by performer Carole Patullo with haunting live music by Steph O’Hara. In this sensory-rich, highly visual performance, designer Dayna Morrisey creates a magical other world with atmospheric lighting design by Danny Pettingill.

“Inventive and spooky, humorous and poetic… See it while you can.” (The Age, 2010 for The Lost Story of the Magdalen Asylum)
