A bird, a tree, the moon

Peepshow Inc presents a late night season of ‘A bird, a tree, the moon’ – a new puppet theatre performance for adults presented in an outdoor setting at City Square 14 to 18 February 2012 @ 10pm.

‘A bird, a tree, the moon’ is an intimate, outdoor, theatrical experience created by Melbourne company, Peepshow Inc. Echoing disarmingly familiar folklore, this contemporary urban fairytale tells an enchanting story of loss, hope and renewal. Pushing up through the concrete, a gnarled old tree stands over the city, unnoticed by passersby. Meanwhile, a woman sits alone on a bench with her grief, troubled only by a bird who simply won’t do what he’s told. The moon looks on as we follow her unexpected journey down into the tree’s ancient roots to a place of release and discovery.

Peepshow Inc artists seamlessly blend elements of visual and physical theatre into masterful storytelling, creating image-based narratives woven together by a haunting sound design.

“What’s striking is the imaginative ingenuity of the puppetry, which is the simplest kind of transformative animation, the closest thing you get to magic in the theatre, and the physical precision of the performances. It’s comic, moving and utterly joyous.” Alison Croggon, Theatrenotes      READ REVIEW
